The theme was the full armor of God. They received these shirts that say God's Army Training Camp, and they wore them every day.
Here they are in their shirts with some of the armor given to us by Mrs. Jan, our wonderful neighbor and friend who drove Macy and Jack to and from VBS every day and taught Jack's class. She saw these swords, shields and helmets in the dollar store and could not resist. Jan is awesome!
Each day of VBS, they also made the full armor - right down to their gospel shoes. While they are super cute here in their garb, I really hope that they learned what God's true armor is (Ephesians 6:13-17). The belt of truth is the truth, which holds everything together. The breastplate of righteousness is His righteousness that we have the privelege of putting on to protect us. The gospel shoes is being prepared to share the good news with anyone we see. The shield of faith allows us to fend off the temptations of the devil. The helmet of salvation is the knowledge that God has truly saved us, which protects our minds from any falsehoods. And the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God, our only weapon with which we can fight off the evil one. If Macy and Jack absorbed even a little bit of what this all really means, then it was a huge success.The last night they had a performance with all the kids that came to VBS (about 500 of them), and they sang 5 songs with hand motions and recited 5 verses of the Bible. Macy and Jack loved everything about the week. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and worked so hard to make this week happen. I can imagine how many hours were spent in preparation for it. Thanks to you, many seeds were planted that will take root when God waters them. To God be the glory!

What great truths were taught. That's awesome.
So glad to hear Macy and Jack had a wonderful time. We'll pray with you that they got some of what was taught.
