This is the view from the deck of the cabin. You can see how the top half of the mountain on the other side of the valley was burned. Our favorite trail is mostly burned as well, but we don't know how bad it is because so much of the forest is closed off right now. Overall, we were very pleased to see how well Greer was protected and we are so thankful to the firefighters who worked so hard to save one our favorite places in the world. 
Grandma made two very happy girls by bringing along a million craft supplies and an idea book. Here's Allie with her puppet.

The kids loved going fishing out on Grandpa's boat. It was a beautiful day!
We had a bunch of fish for dinner that night. All caught by my kiddos!
This is Tommy's sweet little pet named Phineas, the horny toad. And Allie found one named Isabella, isn't that a coincidence? They both came all the way home with us to Chandler, with every intention of making their home with us, but after researching how best to care for a horny toad, which is actually a lizard, we released them back into the wild. We just thought it was going to be too difficult to feed Phineas and Isabella 50 fire ants each per day. We tried giving them crickets, but we know that is not what they really wanted. Who knew?
We all loved being up at the cabin for 5 days. It was hard to leave and come home to the heat, but we had to. Thank you, Gary and Chris for having us!!!
