Disneyland

We celebrated Jack's birthday a few days early with family, so that we could sneak off to Disneyland at the start of fall break. This is Jack on the morning of his birthday. When it is your birthday at Disneyland, you have to stop in at City Hall and talk to Goofy on the phone and get your birthday button. And then all day long all the cast members, and other people too, wish you a happy birthday. It was a great way to spend Jack's special day.


I know you all might think that we are crazy for going to Disneyland so often, but you have to realize that this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime kind of year. It sure seems extravagant! With the Give A Day Get a Day promotion, we could use our free one-day admission to apply towards annual passes, so we decided that this was our chance to do it. We went back in March, and Steve and I snuck away for a couple days in September, and we came again in October, and we just might make one more trip before our tickets expire in March. We have also been blessed to bring Grandma and Grandpa with us twice! In March it was Grandma and Grandpa Weber and this time it was Grandma and Grandpa McInturf. What great fun and great help too! This was our first time seeing all the fall decorations - it was cool!

The canoes were totally new to us. We actually rowed the boat! There is no track for the canoes. When you give twenty people oars, and you put one cast member in back to steer, the canoe cruises right along. Not all riders are the best rowers, but keep in mind that they have never had any practice. If you sit in front of Tommy, the ride classifies as a wet ride, but Grandpa sure was a good sport!

We had a great time exploring Tom Sawyer's island. This is us on the huge treasure that we found!


Allie went out and danced in the parade! She was so cute!

The Matterhorn was a family favorite. We probably did it 4 times. Tommy liked it the first time, but didn't have an interest in going again, and now he claims it was his favorite - that's just how it goes when you're 4.


The characters were all in "costume". You can't really tell, but Pluto is dressed as a bat. The kids thought this was really cool.

Another great ride - Gadget's Go Coaster. It was so fun to watch the kids ride this together. They kept their hands up the whole time!


The kids got all excited when they saw Goofy walking down the street in Toontown. Allie and Tommy chased him down. And he just played along by running around in circles. Goofy is always fun!

Here is the whole gang at Mickey's house. We were the first ones to see Mickey that morning!

The Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters are super fun! We all continue to improve our blasting skills and compare scores when we get off. I lost track of how many times we rode this ride, but I think Macy was my riding partner every time!

We rode the double-decker bus down Main St. as we were headed home for the final time. It was great to see the street from a new point of view - and a good way to sit and relax when we were tired out.

This Disneyland trip was a great start to our fall break! Gotta love a two and a half week break from school in October! What a blessing!
